The Operations Manager will provide direct supervision and leadership to the production, maintenance, and sanitation teams.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Provide direct supervision and leadership to production, maintenance, and sanitation.
- Oversee receiving, storage, rotation, order selection, shipping, inventory, dry storage material and building maintenance operations.
- Plan schedule and shifts, assign tasks appropriately both day and night shift.
- Daily, weekly, and monthly productivity, and inventory reporting.
- Maintain a visible presence on the plant floor to monitor machine operations and provide technical guidance during all production and sanitation phases.
- Serve as a line of communication from our co-packing team to our partners in California regarding production, inventory, and quality issues.
- Work to ensure construction/installations progress as scheduled and that work meets internal specifications, food safety and quality requirements.
- Provide leadership to support all packaging and process staff and systems to meet USDA & FDA standards in a high speed, high volume packaged foods environment.
- Plan and setup layout and ensure efficient space utilization.
- Select, coach, and motivate hourly employees to sufficiently staff for planned production.
- During various times of the year work maybe required after hours or on the weekends.
- Perform various Team Building exercises and provide paths of development for team members.
- Perform any other duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization’s Values.
Qualifications
- B.S in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, or food science strongly preferred; however, equivalent experience with a business degree is also acceptable.
- Strong leadership skills in leading a diverse, skilled team.
- A minimum of ten years' food processing experience with seven years at the plant level.
- Experience in food / fruit / vegetable processing is required.
- Experience in high-speed packaging and processing is preferred.
- Experience with small-scale waste treatment is highly advantageous.
- Experience with Clean-in-Place, pasteurization/sterilization methods, and Ready-to-Eat environments are preferred.
- Detailed knowledge of USDA/FDA regulatory requirements and design practices, BRC Standards, GSFI, OSHA, GMPs, and related regulations.
- Recent experience with Aseptic and Frozen Puree Production equipment highly desired.
- SQF Certified or the willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire.
- A background with slice and dice production is highly desired.
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
