About our role

At Naturipe, we take food safety seriously! Our customers have grown to rely on our products to not just taste good, but to be wholesome and safe. This role is responsible for managing the critical Plant Food Safety and Compliance programs to provide safe, high-quality products that meet customer and regulatory expectations. Responsibility for maintaining the operational components of a food safety program including but not limited to 3rd party food safety audits, customer food safety audits, cleaning, sanitation, training, allergen management, environmental monitoring, & HACCP. 

The ideal candidate will also be responsible for maintaining and updating all food safety related records and ensuring that customer and regulatory requirements are met and the company is providing food safe products.

What you will accomplish

  • Assist with the implementation of food safety plans and systems to ensure products are food safe.
  • Lead quality technicians, conducting label reviews/checks and directing cleaning/sanitation teams.
  • Routine reporting of quality measures and testing programs.
  • Maintain the Supplier Approval Program for inbound ingredients
  • Collaborate with the food safety team to ensure the company is not exposed to food safety liability. 
  • Assist in responding to customer food safety documentation requests.
  • Participate in customer audits and follow up.
  • Work with the Food Safety team to establish safety policies, specifications and safety standards.
  • Respond with urgency to customer or regulatory related requests and requirements. 
  • Accurate and strict maintenance of food safety documentation and related documents.
  • Ensure relevant databases are current relative to all food safety programs and company information.
  • Maintain productive working relationships with grower partner contacts and internal team.
  • Assist company in pursuit of crisis avoidance resulting from food safety issues.

This should describe you

  • Bachelor’s degree in food safety, Food Science, Chemistry, Ag Business required
  • 2+ years’ experience in agribusiness or retail food safety ideally in a produce environment
  • Spanish written/verbal skills preferred
  • Proficiency with 3rd party food safety audit standards, including the Global Food Safety Initiative. 
  • Experience with regulatory requirements including FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act.
  • Communication skills with growers, retailers, customers and consumers
  • Ability to positively influence food safety culture and enjoy a dynamic ever-changing environment.
