We have an amazing opportunity for a recent college grad to join our team at our Salad and Fruit Processing Plant in Salinas, CA as a Cost Accountant.
As a Cost Accountant, you are responsible for supporting financial and accounting aspects of the Manufacturing process, including inventory monitoring and reconciliations, variance analysis, and monthly close processes.
- Bachelor’s degree; Preferably in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Mathematics
- Experience beneficial, but not essential for recent graduates
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel. Data mining experience a plus
- Ability to adapt to new and evolving financial systems
- Strong understanding of the general ledger and reconciliations
- Demonstrated analytical capability
- Communicates effectively with teammates at all levels of the organization with good interpersonal and organizational abilities
- Ability to tolerate cold temperatures inside the Manufacturing Plant for extended periods of time

- Perform month-end close accounting responsibilities including journal entries and account reconciliations for inventory related accounts
- Analyze and communicate Daily Labor Variance to budget
- Prepare periodic and monthly analysis that identify trends in inventory levels including shrinkage and obsolescence
- Accurately estimate and calculate obsolete inventory reserves at month-end
- Assist in the completion of periodic cycle counts and annual physical counts to ensure the completeness of the inventory
- Prepare detailed monthly inventory schedules and reconcile inventory accounts between systems and to the general ledger
