JOB FILLED - Health and Safety Manager

Job Description: 
The Health and Safety Manager will implement and monitor policies to ensure a safe and health work environment.  This position will work collaboratively with employees to create a strong safety presence to reduce workplace injuries  and illnesses. This position will provide meaningful safety and health training to increase Health and Safety knowledge. The manager will work with outside partners to develop advanced programs to prevent workplace hazard and, will work cross functionally to ensure that health and safety is a core value and to continually improve upon.
 
Essential Duties 
  • Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks 
  • Develops and implements inspections policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections as per  legal requirements
  • Prepares and schedules training to review emergency procedures, workplace safety and other relevant  topics 
  • Monitors compliance with safety procedures 
  • Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily available when needed
  • Will serve as the technical resource for all relevant, plant, people safety and environmental compliance areas 
  • Ensuring accurate and timely health and safety recordkeeping, document management and effective case  management, as well as preparing, maintaining, and submitting records required by the company and/or  regulatory agencies 
  • Will lead and work collaboratively with outside partners and cross functionally within the organization
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment that promotes work safety and product integrity
  • Must follow all Safety, HACCP & GMP requirements  
  • Able to work in fast paced environment and within a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the organization 
Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Comply with OSHA safety and health regulations 
  • Coordinate safety training for all employees.  
  • Partner with outside vendors, agencies, & all regulatory agencies
  • Lead investigations, report cause and provide recommendations 
  • Ammonia Safety and training 
  • Wil be responsible for maintain training and employee documentation including all workers compensation  related matters up to date 
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or 5 plus years of related experience 
  • Hazardous materials, Occupation Safety and Health Management experience 
  • Knowledgeable in safety and environment processes and procedures 
  • Strong leadership, training, problem solving and analytical skills 
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization  
  • Effectively manage employee(s), programs, projects, and consultants 
  • CPR and Blood-borne pathogen certified helpful 
  • Bilingual, Spanish 
Physical Requirements: 
  • 75% walking, standing 
  • Lift up to 25lbs 
  • Cold and hot weather climates 
  • Outside – Inclement weather
