Commodity Fumigation Specialist

Job Description: 

Our company is a shipper of fresh stone fruit and grapes. The Commodity Fumigation Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing cold treatment and fumigation procedures that adhere to government regulations and industry best practices. This position develops and maintains the highest degree of personnel safety while coordinating the treatments daily and future.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Process NOI and Tulare County Use Reports on CalAg permits internet website
  • Coordinate with sales, packing, and shipping departments the treatment program schedule     
  • Maintain uniform standards of operations and processing of commodities
  • Administer methyl bromide and carbon dioxide from pressurized cylinder into fumigation chamber
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings with commodity treatment crew
  • Assist in reaching business plan objectives
  • Implement and refine existing Kool Kountry protocols relating to commodity treatments
  • Oversee all activities relating to commodity treatment
  • Maintain and organize electronic treatment data collection
  • Follow product stream from packing estimate to shipping customer trucks
  • Assist in determining best treatment varieties
  • Represent Kool Kountry, LLC.as a professional in all communications and interactions
  • Work with all packers, salespersons, government inspectors. and field buyers on a one to one basis
  • Maintain flexibility to meet daily changes
  • Attend seminars to refine skills
  • Follow proper food safety guidelines at Kool Kountry, LLC. and assist with Third party audits
  • Work with Food Safety team by performing recordkeeping in accordance with GMP requirements
  • Assist with sales information needed to balance commodity treatment load
  • Ability to pass CalOSHA fork-lift certification
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)
Qualifications: 
  • 3 years experience with commodity fumigation and/or commodity cold treatment
  • CADPR QAL license is beneficial but not mandatory ( will help the right candidate achieve QAL)
  • Ability to work outdoors and under variable weather conditions
  • Ability to work in cold processing and storage conditions
  • Ability to accurately process and record daily treatment events
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to maintain smooth operations
  • Critical thinker and problem solver who can overcome competing issues
  • Strong managerial skills with the ability to motivate and resolve problems
  • Team player- results oriented
