The Human Resource Manager for Greenhouse Operations will assist in developing an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality and productivity through the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. The HR Manager will ensure that employee related activities of the Greenhouse Operations are aligned with the overall corporate HR strategies, objectives and guidelines.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in human resource management.
- Bachelor’s degree required and SPHR certification preferred.
- Greenhouse experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of US labor laws.
- Previous experience with Foreign Worker Programs.
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality with employee and company information.
- Travel may be required between the US and Canada.

- Capable of lifting at least 30 lbs.
- Position requires sitting, standing, walking, and bending on a regular basis.
- Must have manual dexterity to perform computer skills.

- Managing the recruiting and hiring process to attract and retain top talent; participating in interviewing candidates and establishing hiring practices.
- Establishing and conducting on-boarding and training programs.
- Developing and implementing new and creative strategies and programs to reduce turnover and retain employees.
- Ensuring legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal, state and local requirements, including Fair Labor Standards Act, FMLA, ADA and EEO.
- Conducting investigations and maintaining records (worker’s compensation, OSHA related files, etc).
- Maintaining the company structure by creating and updating job descriptions for all positions.
- Staying abreast of all new developments to the Foreign Worker Program (and to Immigration processes in general) and coordinating the program for all greenhouses.
- Implementation and maintenance of the health and safety program.
- Providing guidance and counsel to management and employees regarding employee relations matters including administering policies and investigating concerns in a fair and consistent manner.
- Managing overall benefits programs (including annual benefits review and adherence COBRA and HIPAA requirements) and collaborate with benefits advisors to recommend appropriate adjustments to benefit plans.
- Recommending, creating and updating human resource policies and procedures to include maintenance of the employee handbook.
- Implementing and analyzing compensation programs to include piece rates; monitoring performance pay program and revising as necessary.
- Support development of team culture and learning environment by developing and implementing recognition programs and team events.
