Pacific Trellis Fruit has been in business since 1999. Since then we have become one of America’s top year-round growers, shippers and marketers of premium fresh fruits like table grapes, cherries, plums, nectarines, peaches and more. Dulcinea Farms joined Pacific Trellis Fruit in 2014, expanding our lineup to include tasty mini and full-size seedless melons as well as cantaloupes. More recently, we have added easy peelers and navel oranges as well as grapes to the Dulcinea portfolio.

We have a great opportunity for a Regional Manager in Mexico to lead our onsite team in Hermosillo, Mexico.

The Regional Manager - Mexico performs a key role in the production and export of the products in partnership with sales, operations, marketing, transportation, and the executive leaders of the company as well as 3rd party quality and cold storage staff in Mexico and the USA. This role is to also develop and lead the onsite team to ensure the successful execution of the organization’s crop plan in Mexico.

The primary goal of the position is ensuring consistency, quality, and reliability of the supply of the products grown in Mexico.

Responsibilities*

  • Lead and Manage Mexico growing operations.
  • Promote a success-oriented work environment.
  • Work with senior management to develop crop plans and grower relations.
  • Lead the crop plan execution to meet or exceed standards for quality, yield, and cost.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting of the operations related to changes of weather and volumes estimates.
  • Responsible of the execution of the logistics, forecasting and quality processes.
  • Supervise the special packs requests from the sales team.
  • Create and enforce SOP’s.
  • Develop and report on KPI’s
  • Lead and coordinate regional food safety requirements, social compliance, and environmental initiatives.
  • Reconcile and communicate excess seeds and material inventories.
  • Develop, lead, and manage the team of employees to execute the company processes and holds them accountable of the results.
  • On site company representative with Mexican customers.
  • Knowledge in Mexico and USA customs requirements for exporting fruit.
  • Comfortable in working in the fields and in office environments.
  • Ability to travel throughout Mexico and visit the U.S.

  • Working knowledge of FSMA and USDA Food Safety standards.
  • Knowledge of post-harvest disciplines.
  • Fact-based decision-making ability.
  • Flexible and open to new ways of doing things.
  • Ability to be on-call and to occasionally work extended days and/or weekends.
  • Ability to spend extensive time in fields.
  • Comfortable working in both field and office environments.

Education / Experience / Certifications

  • Bilingual English and Spanish – read, write, speak, and present in both languages. (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in agricultural science, operations, business management or equivalent degree from an accredited institution, in a related field or equivalent years of experience is preferred.
  • 5+ years salaried management experience in agricultural operations, including hiring, training, developing, and mentoring direct reports and teams.

Travel

  • Ability to travel overnight as required to other facilities and office locations.
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time to assist with company programs.
  • Ability to travel to travel into the United States as need.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

  • Work in an office or field environment with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, standing, speaking on the phone, and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 45 pounds on occasion.
  • Ability to work in cold 32-degree cold temperatures environments.
