About the Role

A grower/shipper/repacker is looking for a dependable, hands-on Quality Control Inspector to support fresh produce quality in a busy warehouse and repack operation.

We are seeking someone who understands fresh vegetable quality, customer-specific specifications, food safety expectations, and the importance of disciplined handling from dock to delivery. The ideal candidate has experience inspecting fresh produce and is familiar with commodities such as broccoli, squash, peppers, zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers, greens, carrots, chilis, and similar items.

Responsibilities

• Inspect inbound, in-process, and outbound fresh produce for quality, condition, sizing, grading, defects, temperature, weight, packaging, labeling, and customer specifications.
• Perform lot inspections sample-by-sample and document defects such as decay, pitting, mechanical damage, discoloration, soft product, dehydration, scarring, and other condition issues.
• Support PACA-style quality expectations, fresh produce presentation standards, and customer-specific requirements.
• Monitor pulp temperatures, net weights, packaging integrity, lot codes, labels, traceability information, and finished product readiness.
• Review product during receiving, storage, repack, staging, and shipping to help identify issues before they affect customers.
• Work with repack, warehouse, purchasing, sales, food safety, and transportation teams to communicate product concerns and support dependable order fulfillment.
• Maintain accurate QC records, inspection reports, corrective action notes, photos when needed, and product disposition recommendations.
• Support GMPs, sanitation, food safety, traceability, recall readiness, and inspection-ready warehouse practices.
• Help reduce shrink, claims, rejections, customer complaints, and avoidable product loss through clear inspection and timely communication.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of fresh produce, warehouse, repack, food distribution, or quality control experience preferred.
• Knowledge of fresh produce quality, condition, defects, sizing, grading, packaging, labeling, and customer specifications.
• Experience with one or more fresh vegetable categories such as broccoli, squash, peppers, zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers, greens, carrots, chilis, or similar commodities.
• Ability to complete accurate inspections, document findings clearly, and communicate product concerns in a practical way.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, cool-temperature warehouse environment.
• Comfortable working on the warehouse floor and coordinating with production, warehouse, food safety, and management teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Quality Control Inspector, QC Technician, Produce Inspector, Receiver, Repack Lead, or similar fresh produce role.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Familiarity with PACA-style inspections, customer specs, GMPs, sanitation practices, lot traceability, and produce logistics.
• Experience using inspection forms, QC apps, photos, reports, or digital quality records.
