Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quality Control (QC) Specialist to join our team. This position plays an important role in ensuring that all fresh produce received, stored, packed, repacked, and shipped meets our Produce's quality, food safety, and customer standards.
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, proactive, and knowledgeable about fresh produce quality. This is a hands-on role requiring ownership of day-to-day quality control activities at both our Produce's facility and designated third-party cold storage facilities
Key Responsibilities
- Thoroughly inspect inbound and outbound produce shipments to ensure product meets established company, customer, and quality specifications.
- Evaluate produce for condition, quality, defects, sizing, appearance, and other applicable specifications.
- Conduct re-inspections as necessary and accurately document findings.
- Take ownership of daily quality control responsibilities within our Produce's facility and designated third-party cold storage facilities.
- Prepare and distribute detailed QC reports for inbound shipments to appropriate internal departments, suppliers, and other relevant parties.
- Identify quality concerns promptly and clearly communicate findings to management, sales, operations, procurement, and other appropriate teams.
- Monitor product throughout storage, packing, repacking, and shipping to help maintain quality and product integrity.
- Inspect products, packaging materials, labels, and other components used throughout production and repacking operations to ensure established standards are consistently met.
- Ensure repacking areas maintain our Produce's quality and product-handling standards.
- Verify that repacking materials, packaging, labels, PLUs, and other components are accurate and appropriate for each product and customer specification.
- Monitor food safety, traceability, product specifications, and quality standards to help maintain product consistency and reliability.
- Read, understand, and comply with applicable FDA requirements and company food safety policies.
- Support internal and external food safety inspections and audits.
- Maintain accurate facility and quality-control records in accordance with company policies and applicable federal and state regulatory requirements.
- Identify recurring quality issues or trends and communicate opportunities for corrective and preventative action.
- Assist in developing and implementing preventative action plans when quality or compliance concerns arise.
- Maintain quality control objectives that support our overall standards, policies, and commitment to delivering high-quality fresh produce.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in quality control or quality assurance within the fresh produce industry.
- Strong working knowledge of fresh produce quality, condition, defects, and inspection practices.
- Familiarity with quality control, food safety, and SQF fundamentals, including HACCP, FDA requirements, and related industry standards.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify quality issues and inconsistencies.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage QC responsibilities across multiple locations when necessary.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and timely inspection reports.
- Ability to identify recurring trends and recommend practical improvements.
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with operations, sales, procurement, warehouse personnel, suppliers, and management.
- Demonstrated professionalism when handling confidential or sensitive information.

- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, and climb as required throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to work extended hours or overtime when business needs require.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules that may include weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or varying shifts.
Work Environment
This position operates across warehouses, cold storage, production, and office environments. Working conditions may include:
- Clean and orderly warehouse and production environments maintained in accordance with applicable safety requirements.
- Temperature-controlled warehouses and cold-storage environments ranging approximately from 32°F to 48°F.
- Moderate noise levels associated with warehouse and production operations.
- Regular movement between warehouse, production, cold-storage, and office/workstation environments.
