Job Description:
The Human Resources (“HR”) Manager will provide management and direction in all areas of human resources. The HR Manager will develop and administrate programs across all departments, exercise independent judgment and protect the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company policies and governmental laws and regulations. The HR Manager will have strong communication skills and be responsive to and communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
Requirements:
- Must be able to perform all essential duties and responsibilities at a satisfactory level.
- Minimum of five years of experience in human resources responsibility, preferably in agriculture or related industry.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of computer systems and MS Office.
- Bi-lingual Spanish/English speaking, reading and writing.
- Valid California Driver’s License.
- Able to work in variable environments, inside, outside, hot and cold, etc. and circulate among all work areas and all shifts.
- Able to maintain a work schedule of Monday to Friday and weekend rotation.
- Able to give instructions and communicate effectively.
- Must be resourceful and well organized.
- Must be able to develop and maintain relationships and confidence of co-workers in all areas of the company, and foster a team environment.
- Results and people oriented, but have sound independence of judgment and the ability to balance business considerations. Service oriented, but assertive and persuasive.
- Must be able to read and interpret documents such as policies, procedures, manuals and safety rules, and write routine reports and correspondence.
- Must be able to speak and/or make presentations before customers, suppliers, management, or employees.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Hiring. Recruits, interviews, and hires candidates for all departments as needed. Provides and documents new employee orientation and pre-employment drug testing for new hires.
- Training. Develops and conducts human resources training to all crews and departments, implements supervisor training program and coordinates computer training for employees.
- Employee Programs. Develops, proposes, establishes and implements wage and salary structure, pay policies, performance appraisal programs, employee benefit programs and services, and company safety and health programs. Monitors for program effectiveness and cost containments. Prepares applicable performance reviews and evaluations for employees in a timely manner.
- General. Responsible for integrity of employee personnel files and records. Maintains I-9’s and employee identification system. Handles confidential material and researches files for difficult to find data. Answers general questions and inquiries in all areas of human resources. Resolves work problems and issues, or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Policies, Procedures and Practices. Continues development of company employee handbook, makes sure that policies are up-to-date and interprets company policies to workers.
- Compliance. Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions (e.g., OSHA, EEO, ERISA, DOT, DOL, Wage & Hour). Monitors exposure of the company. Documents internal compliance to state, federal, and local codes and regulations. Administers DOT drug tests program and driver licensing, certification and required training. Directs the preparation of information requested or required for compliance for review or approval of company management.
- Collaboration. Works with safety manager and other departments to ensure compliance to all safety and training issues, requirements and policies. Will provide training as needed and/or per requirements.
- Reports. Prepares HR documents and records statistics. Completes special assignments and projects as required. Prepares written and verbal reports for management, accounting or administration and collects pertinent accounting and performance data as requested. Makes recommendations to management in pertinent areas. Keeps management informed of significant problems that jeopardize the achievement of objectives and those that need to be addressed more effectively.
