Job Description:
Setton Farms is seeking an ambitious and energetic individual to join our Packaging Department as a Machine Operator.
Position Reports to:
Shift Supervisor
Compensation/Salary:
$12 to $20/hour depending upon experience and qualifications
Requirements:
- Math and basic computer skills necessary
- Must possess a solid mechanical aptitude combined with technical training and/or the equivalent in manufacturing experience (preferably in food manufacturing)
- Requires knowledge of programming scales, proper sealing and the changeover procedure acquired through three months of on the job training
- Attention to detail when setting machine and to concentrate on work while others watch
- Must have ability to become certified forklift operator
- Must be able to work with hand tools
- Six months plus food processing and/or production experience preferred.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Prepare machine for start of production and oversee daily operation
- Monitor product flow, production speeds and machine settings
- Responsible for packaging quality, bag waste, nitrogen and weight control levels
- Program scales and vibratory feeders for product flow and set metal detectors and check weighers
- Manage product changeover process, tooling and forming tubes
- Inspect conveyors, scales, metal detectors, and packaging machines routinely
- Must be able to read production schedules and set-up packaging machines and scales according to schedule
- Make adjustments to packaging machine and scales for efficient and accurate operation
- Maintain a sanitary work environment
- Must adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP programs
- Machines currently in use include Hayssen, Weighpack, Packline and Ishida
Education:
High school degree or equivalent required
