JOB SUMMARY. The Financial Analyst plays a critical role in delivering accurate, timely, and actionable financial insights to drive farming operations. This role is heavily technical and data-driven, with a strong emphasis on cleaning, validating, and analyzing operational and financial data. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical capabilities, strong system proficiency, and a deep understanding of agriculture or manufacturing cost structures.
You will help bridge historical results with predictive performance and enhance transparency across farming activities. This position supports medium- and long-term planning initiatives and is instrumental in providing the financial visibility needed to inform key operational decisions.
Reporting Relationships. The Financial Analyst reports directly to the Finance Manager. The Financial Analyst will have a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Farming Directors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Design and maintain automated reports, dashboards, and tools to track key operational and financial metrics
- Clean, organize, and validate large data sets from multiple systems including ERP (Famous), Excel, and field data
- Lead the preparation and variance analysis of the annual and quarterly farming budgets
- Perform cost-benefit, material price, and labor cost analyses to identify cost drivers and savings opportunities
- Support daily harvest and packing operations by maintaining real-time cost reporting and walking the packing house for data integrity verification
- Manage and maintain ranch-level data attributes, contributing to accurate financial modeling
- Prepare detailed crop performance and defect reports for internal and board-level use
- Conduct benchmarking studies with peer growers to evaluate efficiency and profitability
- Work directly with farm managers to understand field practices and their financial impact
- Provide crop insurance and packing house reporting support
- Lead ad hoc analyses and special projects as needed, often with minimal direction
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Agribusiness, or related field
- 2+ years of relevant experience, ideally in agriculture, manufacturing, or a cost-intensive industry
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (including macros, Power Query, and pivot tables)
- Strong experience with data visualization and reporting tools (Power BI strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as Famous or equivalent
- Experience with GIS tools like ArcGIS is a plus
- Comfortable working independently with large and complex datasets
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Ability to manage workload across both daily operational support and long-term planning projects
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
COMPENSATION.
- Annual rate offered is $75,000 to $90,000, depending on experience.
