Job Description: 
Datepac is located in the beautiful and thriving city of Yuma, Arizona. Across from Bard, California and caressed by the Colorado River and a tempered climate, this area produces the finest Medjool dates year after year. Datepac was established in August 2002 by local Bard Valley growers to become the best grower-owned company and consolidate the packing of Medjool dates for the Bard Valley Medjool growers. This consolidation enhanced the quality of dates produced and distributed throughout the world.
 
We are now accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Level  3. 
 
The Maintenance Level 3 is a Journeyman level position with advanced level maintenance skills. This position performs duties under limited supervision of routine difficulty and related work as assigned to provide support for operational departments, troubleshoot and repair equipment at Datepac facilities.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Must have proficient knowledge and safe practices in the following areas: Lock-Out/Tag-Out, Shop Tool Safety, Fall Protections, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), Confined Space & Electrical Safety.
  • Advanced Mechanic, Electrical, Pneumatic, and Fabrication/Welding Skills or an acceptable combination.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair automated food processing/packing equipment.
  • Be able to understand and practice preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.
  • Must be able to weld MIG/TIG for Mild or Stainless Steel.  Weld quality to be acceptable for food grade applications.
  • Must be able to read blue prints.
  • Must be able to respond to trouble calls and emergency conditions as requested.
  • Must have working knowledge and comply with Datepac, OSHA, FDA, GMP and other compliance requirements for a food packing/processing facility.
  • Must be able to install and setup equipment (drives, flow sensors etc.) using vendors manuals and specifications.
  • Must be proficient in mechanical drive fundamentals, i.e. chain drive sprocket and gearbox radios etc.
  • Must be able to replace automated equipment mechanical components.
  • Must be able to rebuild gearboxes, power drives, centrifugal pumps and replace mechanical shaft seal.
  • Must be proficient in the use of standard hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, bearing pullers etc.
  • Must be proficient in the use of simple power tools such as drills, grinders, cut –off saws, impact wrenches, etc.
  • Must be able to read electrical diagrams.
  • Must be knowledgeable of NEC (National Electric Code) requirements.
  • Must be able to run and bend electrical.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot power distribution systems.
  • Must have working knowledge of electrical testing equipment, such as multimeter.
  • Must be able to install an electrical run from an electrical power panel to the end user point up to 480 Volts. An installation is defined by designing the circuit, creating the schematic, ordering parts and completing the hardware installation.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot systems up to 480 volts with complicated electrical controls and wire 3 phase motors.
  • Prefer knowledge with low voltage control circuits such as in our automated equipment.
  • Must be knowledgeable in programming and troubleshooting Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Prefer a working knowledge of PLC system components and understand the relationships of a PLC system from program to inputs and outputs.

Qualifications: 
  • Able to read/write/communicate in English preferred, bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus.
  • Must be able to obtain a forklift / aerial lift driver’s license.
  • 5 day work weeks (6 and 7 day on occasion).
  • Ability to work flexible work schedule (days and hours).
  • Experience in production environment and automated production equipment.
  • Must be able to complete paperwork, follow procedures, and be productive.
  • Capable of training and coaching team members on maintenance tasks.
  • Advanced knowledge of all maintenance equipment and procedures.
  • Trained in support assistance for related department tasks.
  • Must meet all qualifications of Maintenance Level 1 & 2.
