Drew Massa Transportation is a reputable company with over two decades of experience in refrigerated transportation of fruits and vegetables across California and Arizona and consolidation operations in Yuma, Brawley, and Salinas. They are locally owned and operated and have a deep footprint in the Salinas Valley. Their portfolio of companies includes, transportation (LTL & FL), cooling, consolidation, procurement, ag ranches, and commercial properties. The work atmosphere is high-energy and fast-paced, reminiscent of a bustling stockbroker's office.

The Chief Financial Officer will work closely with the ownership providing financial guidance, strategic foresight, and risk mitigation while having full responsibility for the oversight and leadership of all finance and accounting activities for two family-owned businesses with multiple entities.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Manage financial operations of transportation, cooling, commercial real estate portfolio, and farming operations including financial reporting, accounting, treasury management, financial analysis, tax compliance, and risk management.
  • Develop and maintain effective cash and treasury management strategies.
  • Conduct financial analysis, modeling, and forecasting to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations, oversee tax planning and compliance activities, and manage any 1031 exchanges.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, including lenders, investors, auditors, legal counsel and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in the development and execution of the company's overall strategic plan.
  • Continuously evaluate short and long-term financial objectives and investment strategies, and make recommendations based on financial analysis, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
  • Deliver explanations and business solutions to mitigate financial risks and provide information needed for making important business decisions.
  • Ensure maintenance of internal controls and compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
  • Create pro-forma projections to determine the fiscal impact of various business strategies, scenarios, and proposed investments.
  • Lead, teach, and mentor accounting team members.
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in financial management, preferably in commercial real estate or related industries
  • Proven track record of success in developing and implementing financial strategies and managing financial operations.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with financial analysis, modeling, and forecasting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with senior executives, external partners, and team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to build and lead a high-performing team.
