Job Description: 

Bengard Ranch is seeking the right mechanic to join our elite team of skilled professionals that repair and modify our agricultural tractor and equipment fleet. This year-round position provides diagnostic and maintenance work across all our growing areas covering various equipment types and manufacturers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Using various tools such as diagnostic equipment, multimeters, pipe cutters, motors, welders, and various hand tools, repairs and maintains the safe working condition of company farming vehicles, equipment, and machines.
  • Diagnoses problems and determines corrective action needed.
  • May coordinate with outside vendors.
  • Adheres to all PPE and personal safety requirements.
  • Adheres to all Food Safety requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth flow of work for the specific operation.

MAJOR AREAS OF FOCUS:
The Bengard Maintenance Shop is a full-service shop encompassing troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair for the following major areas of work.

  • Electrical/motor
  • Hydraulic and air systems
  • Fabrication for repairs and modifications
  • Air Conditioning
  • Engines/Transmissions

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:
Skills:

  • Able to successfully operate assigned maintenance equipment and tools.
  • Able to accurately complete and maintain required equipment logs and assessments needed to successfully perform the function. Documents may include such things as maintenance logs, safety inspection check sheets, timecards, food safety/quality documents, training records, new hire information, and the like.
  • Certified or equivalent in use of assigned diagnostic tools.
  • Certified or equivalent in welding at the food-grade level.
  • Certified or equivalent in basic fabrication of parts including the use of metal shears, presses, lathes, and the like. Able to read schematics or other design documents and then fabricate corresponding parts to specifications.

  • Able to work in a respectful manner with all coworkers.
  • Able to meet attendance and punctuality expectations as part of a team environment.
  • Able to work independently with only limited direct supervision.

 
Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb on, around, or off assigned equipment.
  • Ability to stand, bend, or sit for extended period of time.
  • Able to stretch to operate assigned hand tools as needed in difficult to reach locations.
  • Ability to visually recognize information provided by various diagnostic tools, audio responses, or other measures of equipment performance.

 
Compliance Requirements:

Employees assigned to moving vehicles and/or equipment using public roads will be required to meet all Federal, State, Local, and Company driver requirements.
 
Salary: $18 – $20 / Hourly
