Oversee and monitor the quality control of produce. Assure the quality of inbound produce, as well as the produce being delivered to customers on an ongoing basis. Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment in performing duties directly related to the general operation of produce quality control. Performs under general supervision and uses special training, experience and knowledge of produce to conduct product inspections and ensure product safety, integrity and quality. In addition, this position will facilitate communication between the Company and the customer.
- Perform daily evaluation of all produce inventories for quality, proper rotation and inventory levels. This work is generally performed in the cooler and covers approximately 600+ items.
- Inspect daily inbound deliveries for quality; inspect products in the pick slots and documents condition and take appropriate action with suppliers or carriers. Notify Produce Merchandising Department on issues.
- Assist in all aspects of quality control by identifying weight, temperature abuse and related quality control issues.
- Handle all Federal Inspections as well as product discrepancy notices including taking photos.
- Coordinate the efforts of the Merchandising and Operations Department’s work processes to ensure proper procedures are followed.
- Monitor receiving of returned produce to ensure acceptable quality.
- Communicate with Produce Merchandising Department all quality issues and assist them in a resolution to ensure customer receives the highest quality products possible.
- Ensure product meets quality standard before it is shipped and notifies merchandisers of quality issues.
- Interact with Marketing Associates on a daily basis and provide answers and information on produce related inquiries.
- Provide information to Business Review on samples, market information, etc.
- Be aware of each geographical area and their growing conditions to know what to expect on product quality.
- Sort marginal produce on an as needed basis and discard rotten produce.
- Assist for various sales seminars and showcase events.

- High School or GED, required.
- College degree preferred.
- Two (2) years distribution and warehouse experience is preferred.
- 2+ years’ experience working with produce required.
- Working knowledge of produce receiving, selection, or delivery experience a plus.
- Able to work in a refrigerated work environment.
- Must have good communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer and mathematical skills is required.
- Must be computer literate and excel in telephone interactions with employees at all levels of the company, as well as, with customers. 10-key by touch is a must.
- Able to work at a fast pace with a high sense of urgency.
- Good Follow up skills.
- Demonstrate ability to plan and organize your own work activities; manage work time efficiently and handle multiple tasks; follow procedures and policies; perform basic mathematical calculations, identify and solve problems; maintain a file system to include alphabetical, numerical, and chronological filing activities
