The Quality Assurance (QA) Facility Manager represents Vega in the role to advocate quality and continuous improvement with Vega’s contract manufacturers and third-party logistics providers through mutual understanding and partnership. This position will report to the Director of Quality Assurance.
Traveling is required to key points in North America.
- 5-10 years of progressive UHT experience in a relevant role with some management experience
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and/or Food Science is an asset
- Working knowledge of GMP requirements for Food and Natural Health Products/Dietary Supplements
- Familiar with the Canadian Food & Drug Acts and Regulation and/or FDA CFR’s
- Experience with a GFSI standard and UHT processing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong relationship building and diplomacy skills
- Excellent organization skills
- Thrives working in a dynamic environment
- A problem solver and an advocate for continuous improvements
- A self-starter who is able to work independently, able to take initiative
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Use of your own vehicle, overnight travel and shift work may be required on occasion.
- Carry out Vega’s Facility Management Plan for contract manufacturers and warehouses, with emphasis on UHT processing
- Duties include, but not limited, to the following:
- Measures and tracks manufacturer performance through quality scorecard
- On-floor GMP observations
- Validating co-man SOPs to Vega standards
- Implementation of finished product specifications
- Conduct GMP audits of contract manufacturer facilities and follow-up on deficiencies to ensure that corrective actions are appropriate and completed in a timely manner
- Investigate non-conformances and out of specs relating to the manufacturing sites; work with manufacturers to achieve corrective and preventative actions
- Suggest methods for improving product quality, design, or manufacturing processes
- Assist contract manufacturers to continuously improve on quality and efficiency
- Manage project timelines
- Assist with expediting requests for all areas of Operations including Quality, Production, and Logistics
