JOB FILLED - Director of Operations

Job Description: 

This position is the lead operator for Country Sweet Produce with responsibilities for the operational and financial success of the company.

Compensation/Salary: 
DOE
Requirements: 
  • 5 years or more of senior operations leadership experience in related fields
  • Strong operational accounting knowledge, including; cash flow, P&L, B/S, budgeting and forecasting
  • BSC/BA in Business Administration or relevant field; (MSc/MBA preferred) with course work in management, leadership, finance and accounting
  • Experience interacting with other departments including: HR, Finance, Marketing, Sales, etc
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
  • Strong organizations skills and the ability to select and hire appropriate talent
  • Strong financial and analytical capabilities
  • Strong software application skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Flexible and able to juggle multiple competing projects
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Addiitional Requirements:

  • 40+ hours per week which may include weekends
  • Must have open availability any day of the week based on the needs of the operation
  • Work will be performed in packing house setting
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Design and implement operational strategies, plans and procedures
  • Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth
  • Establish policies that promote company culture and vision
  • Lead, evaluate and optimize production lines and systems
  • Lead and evaluate cost and financial reporting for all departments
  • Lead all facility projects
  • Analyze current fresh, processing, and cull products for improvement opportunities
  • Review and approve all outside vendor charges
  • Manage insurance needs including: auto, liability, stock, boiler machinery, etc
  • Manage allocation of resources, such as funds, labor and equipment
  • Lead and direct budgeting, costing, and accounting activities including:
    • Budgeting
    • Costing models
    • Budget to Actual reports
    • Grower charges and reporting
    • Lead and evaluate department heads and departments. Implement incentives, procedures and processes as needed to insure that departments are running efficiently and cost effectively.  Hire and discharge subordinate employees as required.

    • Conduct regular meetings with department managers to remain current on the status of each area of responsibility
    • Participate with leadership team (Ag and Sales) to drive value from seed to shelf
    • Participate in development of products with Sales Department to add new products
    • Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.)
    • Manage relationships with partners/vendors
    • Participate in management team meetings and report to ownership as required
    • Health and safety. Ensure facilities, processes and employees are in compliance with workplace and food safety regulations
    • Establish and implement occupational safety education for employees
    • Ensure proper sanitation procedures are followed
    • Ensure equipment, facilities and grounds are safe and properly maintained
