JOB FILLED - Fertilizer and Chemical Application Supervisor

Job Description: 
The Fertilizer and Chemical Application Supervisor will be responsible for supervising pest management programs. You will also be responsible for identifying pests, weeds and other organisms in the fields, as well as implementing updated practices on a regular basis. You must be able to work well with others and maintain a quality work that meets the high standards of the Babe’ Farms, Inc.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Vegetable disease and pest management:  Scouting, monitoring, and implementation of control measures and maintaining accurate records.
  • Pest control recommendations and county reporting.
  • Follow up on chemical applicators and applications to check efficiency.
  • Work with Harvest Crews and Harvest Mangers to determine quality controls.
  • Environmental chemical hazard awareness.
  • Help in maintaining spray tractors, implements, chemical storage areas, as well as chemical inventories.
  • Prepare and work within budget perimeters. 
  • Work with Ranch Managers to coordinate pesticide applications.
  • Continuing education to increase chemical knowledge level and legislature updates.
  • Implement new, changed and discontinued fertilizer/chemical/insecticides records. To include update MSDA, etc. in binders.  Set up in Tiger Jill and County registrations.
  • Input, print and distribute recommendations through Tiger Jill program.
  • Review application and purchase reports for accuracy.
  • Make recommendations for price and purchase of fertilizers and chemicals on quarterly bids.
  • Monthly transmittal of chemical application reports to county.
  • All other duties as assigned.  
Ideal Candidate: 

Ability to speak English and Spanish.

Qualifications: 
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Agriculture or related field.
  • Preferably 2-4 years of work related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft word/excel/outlook.  Knowledge of Tiger Jill and Agrian is helpful.
  • Knowledge of agriculture chemicals.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work with many personalities.
  • Excellent Observation skills.
  • Must keep accurate record keeping and documentation in the daily/monthly planner supplied by the company each year.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
