Smith Gardens, the largest annual and perennial grower in the Pacific Northwest, has an exciting opportunity for a Merchandising Supervisor to join our team! Location: Southern Oregon Market (Eugene, OR).
JOB FUNCTION:
Supervise a Live Plant Merchandising Program in The Home Depot Garden Centers. Program requires excellent working relationship with District, Store, and Garden Center Managers to accomplish program goals. Drive to multiple stores to merchandise plants and supervise merchandisers.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Communicate store and plant product conditions to SGI Field Sales Manager on a regular basis.

Responsible to recruit, hire, train, team build and manage a professional, knowledgeable merchandising staff of 15+ people that operates with excellence throughout the garden season and performs to standards.

Strengthen customer relationships through projecting a professional image in stores at all times.

Work as a team member with merchandisers, store employees and other managers.

Effective management of merchandiser daily activity list and weekly timesheets online.

Clean, condense and organize plant product and racks.

Manage store inventories to maximize sell through and customer satisfaction.

Gain insight into plant sell-through and inventory positions primarily through store visits.

Utilize Reports and Sales Analysis to forecast and anticipate product flow compared to market and weather conditions.

Execute approved merchandising plans, store layouts and plant-o-grams.

Retail environment requires weekend and holiday work.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing, in person, and via phone
- Must work well under pressure and be able to make decisions quickly
- Reliable and punctual
- Organized with ability to prioritize projects
- Computer skills necessary in MS Office Suite
- Self-motivated, positive attitude and work ethic

Qualifications:
- 3-5 years Customer Service experience preferred
- 3-5 years Supervisory experience preferred
- 3-5 years Recruiting experience preferred
- Previous merchandising experience a plus
- Must have reliable transportation to drive to assigned stores within the assigned territory.
- Valid driver's license with auto insurance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work long hours as needed during busy season, including weekends.
- Travel to multiple store locations
- Work indoors and outdoors, in seasonal temperatures and conditions.
- Pushing and pulling fully loaded rolling delivery racks of product (approximate weight of up to 300 lbs.).
- Lifting and carrying flats of product to racks or tables through garden center (approximate weight 5-40 lbs.)
- Unloading delivery racks of plant material- flats, gallon product, hanging baskets and planters.
