JOB FILLED - Production Manager

Job Description: 

The Production Manager, under the direction of the operations manager, oversees; fresh produce production & packing, dried fruit and the cut fruit (Platter) processing departments. Works closely with produce, logistics, warehousing and marketing managers to ensure safe and efficient production requirements are being met while maintaining strict product quality guidelines and expectations.

This is a full-time exempt position, salary DOE. The production manager will assume warehouse manager responsibilities in his/her absence.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Oversees the overall production process for basket, dried fruit & cut fruit processing as well as local route building. Creates and adjusts the production schedule as needed
  • Implements best practices and follows lean manufacturing principles to improve departments overall efficiencies. Responsible for maintaining KPI’s
  • Provides effective and timely training guidance and motivational corrective action and performance reviews to supervisors; communicates Sr. Management’s expectations and objectives
  • The overall departments safety, housekeeping, quality, productivity, employee conduct and performance, and staff acquisition. Co-chairs safety committee with warehouse manager
  • Following company procedures, administers disciplinary action within the department
  • Assists the Food Safety Manager to ensure team member training, compliance and enforcement of all company policies including food safety, GMP, SOP’s, SSOP’s, HACCP, and all local, state and federal laws
  • Work with fellow managers to implement company’s policies and goals
  • Developing and implementing SOP’s for all production operations
  • Participates in project teams that improve productivity, control costs, reduce waste, maintain quality and food safety standards
Qualifications: 
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of supervisory experience in a fresh produce production/manufacturing environment and a warehouse pick/pack operation with heavy employee management
  • Proven track record of continuous improvement successes and efficiencies, familiar with lean manufacturing principles including: 5-S, Kaizin, Six Sigma and Root Cause Analysis
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing & moderate computer skills
  • Familiarity with OSHA, food safety / GMP standards, including FDA, HACCP & 3rd party GSF audits
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented; able to work effectively under pressure with high energy and proactive style, brings well developed sense of urgency to all work
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze, priority plan, multi-function and manage time effectively
