Requirements: 
  • 2 year of managerial experience, preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Possess the ability to handle high stress and volume of customers while maintaining a positive shopping experience for the customer.
Availability requirements include; but are not limited to; days, evenings, weekends, & holidays.
 
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
  • Stand for long periods of time; walk; frequent use of hands.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Frequently lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Prepares the weekly and daily work schedules and directs the activities of employees working in the Produce Department.
  • Is responsible for the staffing, training and overall development of employees working in the Produce Department, on a daily basis.
  • Trains employees on weighting, slicing, cutting and merchandising of all cut produce within required Health Department requirements.
  • Maintains a high profit margin in accordance to the approved pre-set budget, which entails, but is not limited to: sales goals, cost of goods, expenses, price changes and waste management.
  • Manages and assures high quality and proper quantity of product via proper ordering and receiving.
  • Orders and receives products and practices proper invoice routing.
  • Examines product bought for resale or received for storage.
  • Manages and assures proper displaying and selling of different produce items to customers and advises them on quality, method of handling and storage, and other factors affecting ripening and storage.
  • Must have knowledge or have the ability to learn certain computer applications such as, but not limited to Microsoft Excel.
  • Ensures employees are practicing department and store standards to assure quality customer service.
  • Responsible for using the tools provided by management to ensure the success of the department.
  • Handles customer complaints in such a manner so as to assure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains the produce department, including all cases and backroom storage locations under current health codes and Lazy Acres Natural Market standards on sanitation and cleanliness.
