Leavens Ranches LLC is a family owned and operated agriculture and real estate operation, headquartered in Ventura County, California. Our tight-knit, collaborative team partners across California to grow premium fruit. As we continue to expand our business, we currently manage several entities across agriculture and real estate.
Our team started as family, and we continue to hire employees that represent our business with the same passion as our forebears. Each individual across the family, field and office operates with efficiency and long-term growth in mind. We are looking for a new leader to manage all financial and internal operations for the business and its entities. The Finance & Operations Director will take a hands-on approach to support the greater business across the California properties. As a key member our small, tight-knit business, this person will oversee, manage and consult with management, staff and relevant advisors to build the best outcome for the business.
Financial
- Oversee all financial transactions to ensure a strong operational and financial operation
- Prepare timely, complete and accurate financial reports, forecasts, budgets and block analyses for agriculture and real estate holdings within the business
- Act as the primary contact for all financial and relevant operational inquiries for the business
- Liaise with relevant external stakeholders: CPA, attorney, local banks, lenders, insurance companies, and key agricultural partners as it relates to the financial and operational health of the business
- Present and provide context to financial reports at quarterly and annual business meetings
- Oversee accounting work, deriving analytical data patterns to be presented to the greater Management team
- Prepare and execute partner distributions on an annual basis
- Implement an integrated digital accounting and operations system
Operations
- Develop policies, procedures and internal controls to assure accurate and cost-effective operations
- Communicate financial and operational data to the greater Executive team on a timely and consistent basis
- Partner with CEO, Chairman, and VP of Farming Operations to identify areas for opportunity, acquisitions and/or difficulties within the company.
- Make strategic decisions with other members of the Executive and Management teams for the benefit of the business
- Build and implement specific operational processes for how the business works, reports, and is managed
Management
- Manage Office Staff: including Operational & Administrative Specialist and Office Manager
- Foster growth for all staff, offering opportunities for development as a true company leaders
- Partner and collaborate with CEO and VP of Farming Operations to ensure smooth interactions among operations
- Explore business development, project acquisitions and relevant expansion opportunities
- Encourage digitization across the business to improve efficiency and use of technology
- Manage and oversee IT Operations – identify IT outsourcing or issues requiring support
Industry & Community Involvement
- Encouraged to get involved in local Industry & organizations, for the benefit of the business operations
- Engage, communicate and consult with community leaders about relevant agriculture, labor and real estate concerns
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, board members, agriculture advocates, contractors and government officials
- Bachelor's Degree required, ideally with a focus in AgBusiness or AgOperations
- At Least 10 years in a small to mid sized agriculture organization
- Strong financial acumen, preferably previous experience as a Corporate Controller or Analyst
- Excellent understanding of agriculture operations
- Team Management skills are a must - experience empowering and supporting a small team
- Bilingual in Spanish is a bonus
