Job Description: 

Located in Southern Arizona, we are a private distribution and logistics provider of fresh produce. We feel deeply rooted in our philosophy; we strongly feel that healthy choices are good for the body as well as the environment.

We are currently accepting applications for the position of Operations Manager to join our team.

The Operations Manager plans, organizes, directs, and controls the activities of the Operations function at our distribution center in southern Arizona. Including, guaranteeing the delivery of our produce, meeting the quality and safety standards in the process. Maintaining the facility and equipment in optimal conditions for maximum productivity. Responsible for the performance of all department. Oversee personnel in the operations center in order to facilitate timely and accurate shipping and receiving of products. Must be able to maintain a firm hand of all aspects of operations and maintain an effective balance of communication between management and all operation personnel.
 
We’re looking for an experienced “hands-on” person with experience in a high volume produce operations environment. Someone who is capable of a large realm of responsibilities.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree, or a combination of education and work experience commensurate with the position
  • 3-5 years warehouse management experience, preferably in a Produce environment
  • Excellent managerial and training skills
  • Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with the Microsoft office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
  • Strong knowledge of warehousing performance indicators
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Ensure that all operations are complying with company policy, state and Federal statutes regarding workplace safety, food safety, and employment laws, and that all practices are administered in a fair and equitable manner
  • Selection, training development, motivation, review and control of warehouse employees to assure continuity of efficient operations
  • Responsible for establishing flexible staffing schedules
  • Hands on supervision and training of warehouse personnel
  • Responsible for controlling labor cost
  • Performance of special cost studies as required
  • Responsible for minimizing shrinkage of product
  • Identifies opportunities for enhanced cost reduction, yield optimization, operational safety and quality improvements
  • Manage the operations budget and control expenses effectively. Analyze and address variances
  • Oversee proper warehouse maintenance and safekeeping
  • Responsible for ensuring the maintenance of all warehouse equipment, ie. Forklifts
  • Responsible to ensure that refrigeration system is working properly in all sections of the warehouse and that proper temperature levels are maintained for all stored product
  • Responsible to maintain warehouse in full compliance with all OSHA, Federal, State and local regulatory safety, labor, worker’s comp and health requirements
  • Inventory coordination and record keeping
  • Responsible to report expired shelf time of product following adequate rotation
  • Coordinate with purchasing department to ensure adequate packaging material inventory is received and maintain accurate inventory count
  • Prepares warehouse for physical inventory
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, OSHA regulations, county health and organic certification requirements under NOP scheme
  • Food safety record keeping and audits
  • Pack line QC -grade, size, pack style weight, label and compliance auditing
  • Inventory QC –aged inventory management and reporting
  • Daily inspections inbound and outbound for each lot or orders
  • Weekly reporting within the company regarding pack, appearance, color and condition
  • Ensure fulfillment of product for the sales department
  • Oversee repack compliance with product specifications
  • Supervise dispatching personnel to insure timely and accurate scheduling of customer shipments. Document shipments using customer Bill of Ladings
  • Supervise receiving personnel to ensure proper count and physical inspection of merchandise based upon purchase orders received
  • Manages proper distribution of product to designated stock rotation based on FIFO basis
  • Coordinates internal transfers of product among warehouses for fulfilment of orders
