Job Description:
California Specialty Farms, a well established produce wholesaler ,is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team. The right individual will have experience with the fresh produce industry and multi-state or nationwide operations. The company is looking to grow in the near future and is searching for someone who’s committed to helping them reach their goals.
Location: LA Produce Terminal Market in Los Angeels, CA, NOT REMOTE
Some of the duties performed include but are not limited to the following:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)
- Works with financial Analyst ensuring CPA has all financial information by the 14th day of the month for the prior month's business.
- Maintains the general ledger
- Work closely with AP to ensure accurate recording of AP batches and approve, verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Review and authorize customer terms and conditions, conferring with GM & President for new customer approval and new & current customer terms as needed
- Work closely with AR to ensure accurate recoding of transactions related to customer accounts including receipt and correct recording of customer payments
Licensing & Insurance:
- Maintain & update driving records, driver's licenses and insurance info for employees who drive their own or company-owned vehicles on company time.
- Ensure all business licenses, certificates, and audits are up to date and posted per the law.
- Ensure that all current and new vehicles are insured and have ID cards. Any old/out of service are dropped.
Additional responsibilities
- Reconcile benefit vendor invoices monthly and address any discrepancies
- Perform Worker's Comp Audits.
- Distribute New Customer Applications and review completed applications.
- Research new customer applicants via the Blue Book, call references, banks, etc.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Demonstrated ability to organize work, plan ahead, manage multiple projects, and effectively respond to changing priorities.
- Demonstrate honesty, integrity and attention to detail in all aspects of the position.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related accounting software programs related to the perishable food industry
- Communicate effectively, orally and in writing; possess active listening skills.
- Must be Bilingual in English and Spanish
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 5 to 7 years of accounting experience
Compensation/Salary:
$85,000k - $100,000
