Coast Produce Company is a family-owned business that has been in the produce industry for over 55 years. We procure and distribute fresh fruits and vegetables to retail, foodservice and government customers.
We have an opening for a Produce Inspector/Driver to join our team in Los Angeles, CA.
As the Produce Inspector/Driver will be responsible for accepting or rejecting product based on condition, temperature, code date, short weight, damage, etc. You will check and maintain records of inbound product temperatures according to procedures specified in the Distribution Receiving Guidelines. Drive Coast Produce refrigerated van for local pickups. Inspects locally purchased orders of fresh produce when picking up product from local vendors in the greater Los Angeles area.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Informs buyers of product quality as necessary.
- Prepares warehouse condition reports as requested.
- Makes recommendations to managements regarding reduction in shrink.
- Inspect incoming shipments of designated product groups, as well as product stored in the warehouse. Assess products according to written records.
- Receiving responsibilities
- Ability to utilize system software (trainable) for daily workload and reports.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Produce knowledge and or ability to be trained.
- You have a clean driving record for the past 10 years
- One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all unit measurements, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
