We are partners with farmers in California and Mexico to provide year-round conventional and organic fresh fruits and vegetables to our customers. This includes our organic melon program out of Firebaugh, CA, strawberries out of Santa Maria, CA, and tomatoes in Ensenada, Culiacan, and Sayula, MX.
These partnerships allow us to offer consistent year-round supply. For over 30 years we have invested in vertically aligned partnerships and sourcing in USA and Mexico securing consistent supply when crops are short or gapping. Our long-term relationships with teaming partners provide strategic regional produce facilities located closest to the end user. We have a proven track record in superior service, on-time deliveries, consistent high quality- product, and unsurpassed customer service.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Category buyer for conventional for dry and wet veg
- Responsible for inventory management
- Bring a network of outlets to work with to move inventory when markets are long
- Extensive relationship with grower and shipper nationally (ie: Nogales, Pharr TX, Baja, Nor Cal, etc)
- Customer relations with foodservice, wholesale, retail, and independents
- Knowledge of logistics and transportation is a plus
- Understanding of accounting practices to close open lots and repacking charges
- Be able to work closely with the team and cross functionally such as production, shipping, and receiving
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Efficient typing skills, with an emphasis on accuracy and legal aspects of purchasing.
- Ability to compile information and make decisions.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
