Job Description:

Oversee and ensure compliance to FDA's Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) requirements under the FDA's Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

Collect food safety system documentation from foreign suppliers to verify that the imported fruits and vegetables meets U.S. safety standards.

Develop, maintain, and follow a FSVP for each food imported.

Take corrective actions (if necessary) and perform annual evaluations of the adequacy of the FSVP for each supplier.

Keep up to date research on new regulatory standards and regulations as needed.

Provide training to internal departments to improve awareness of their role in assuring compliance to quality control regulations.

Serve as point of contact and prepare formal response to FDA audits.

Performed other duties as assigned in the Procurement Department.
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or experience in Food Science or Life Science (e.g., bio-chemistry).

3 or more years of experience in quality functions.

"Qualified Individual" under FSVP a plus.

Prior working experience with PACA, USDA and FDA regulations.

Prior experience with produce importer a plus.

Excellent knowledge Microsoft Office, especially Excel: able to build trend analysis, charts and reports.

Attention to detail with ability to build a summary.

Excellent verbal and written skills.

Bilingual candidate a plus (e.g., fluency in Spanish).
