Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Produce Salesperson to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the produce industry, with a focus on both grower fruit and brokering fruit sales. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong sales acumen, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with growers, buyers, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales and Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within the produce market (Cold Calling).
- Develop and maintain relationships with growers to secure a consistent supply of high-quality fruit.
- Broker fruit sales between growers and buyers, ensuring competitive pricing and timely delivery.
- Meet and exceed sales targets and performance metrics (cartons, revenues, gross margin).
- Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with customers, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.
- Sales will come with a combination of Grower Direct fruit and brokering fruit (Buy/Sell) to establish relationships that last year-round.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
- Market Analysis and Strategy:
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify opportunities and threats.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to maximize market share and profitability.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and transactions.
- Prepare sales reports and forecasts for management review.
- Responsible from the start of all orders until final payment is collected on all orders, including but not limited to working all A/R reports and troubles to ensure timely payments and resolution is completed.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in produce sales, with a focus on grower fruit and brokering fruit sales.
- Proven track record of achieving sales and relationship goals, with emphasis on a history of achieving annual produce sales in excess of US $10MM.
- Strong knowledge of the produce industry, including market trends and supply chain dynamics.
- Ability to execute company objectives and maintain external relationships with suppliers, customers and team members in a manner that is aligned with the Company’s values of integrity, passion and focus on solutions.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.
