JOB FILLED - Import and Grower Accounting Manager

Growers Select Produce, a watermelon grower, packer, and shipper in South Texas, is looking for a Grower Accounting Manager. With operations in both the US and Mexico, the accounting manager will oversee the entire importation process of fresh fruit from Mexico to the US.

This role requires rigorous organization and attention to detail, the ability to work effectively with co-workers as well as grower and buyer clients in the timely and accurate “end to end” processing of product transactions, from the analysis and resolution of sales claims through to the review and finalization of grower accounting and lot sales reporting.

Responsibilities include:

• Track and manage the status of grower fruit through the entire process from in-bound notification, importation, pack out, shipping, and liquidation
• Manage Grower Accounting and Lot Accounting Reports including handling of all A/P communication with vendors/growers. Including assessing charges, lot reconciliation, lot closures, and new grower onboarding
• Communicate with grower and customs personnel to set up in-bound shipments
• Develop and manage relationships with the Mexican and US Custom agents, handling communication and execution of all processes
• Monitor and ensure compliance from all requirements from US and Mexican regulatory bodies around the import/export of product
• Create and manage all inbound lots in software platform and existing systems
• Communicate with internal teams on shipment and subsequent packout status
• Investigate and handle any problems in importation timelines, issues in border crossings, pack out discrepancies, etc.
• Process and submit grower packout reports in a timely, and accurate manner
• Execute, account for, and manage all grower advances
• Account for sales and inventory of grower product at all times and ensure physical inventory is aligned with data reflected in the system
• Administer all accounting related to grower partners
• Process and prepare accurate operational financial information for growers within predetermined deadlines
• Financial analysis and forecasting for grower accounts

Experience/Skills:

• Background in Accounting
• Must be fluent in Spanish and English
• Experience in fresh produce/agriculture is preferred
• Prior experience working with Excel/Google Sheets and modern software systems
• Must understand the need for an adaptable and flexible work schedule according to business/team requirements
• Excellent data entry skills emphasizing speed and accuracy
• Work as part of a team, supporting accounting and operations teams as needs arise
• Detail oriented, organized, and reliable work habits
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
• Ability to meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision
