Nogales Quality Control Inspector

Reports To: Nogales Operations Manager

Position Summary

Baloian Farms is looking for a Quality Control Inspector to join our team in Nogales, AZ. This position is responsible for evaluating the quality and condition of fresh produce arriving from Mexico and helping our team make informed purchasing and shipping decisions. The ideal candidate understands fresh produce, knows what good quality looks like, and is comfortable making decisions based on condition, quality, size, grade and overall marketability. 

Responsibilities

• Inspect inbound fresh produce arriving from Mexico.
• Evaluate product quality, condition, size, grade, pack, and overall marketability.
• Complete accurate daily quality control reports with Baloian Farms Q/C App.
• Publish and communicate daily quality reports.
• Identify quality issues, defects, temperature concerns, and other conditions that may affect product value or shelf life.
• Communicate quality concerns to the Nogales Operations Manager and Commodity Managers.
• Inspect produce being considered for purchase.
• Visit suppliers, warehouses, or other locations as necessary to evaluate available lots.
• Help identify and select the best available lots when purchasing product.
• Montor product quality throughout the receiving and shipping process.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections and findings.
• Work with internal teams to resolve quality issues quickly.
• Perform other duties/cross train as needed to support the Nogales operation and team.

Qualifications

• Fresh produce quality control experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of fresh vegetables, produce defects, quality standards, and condition factors.
• Ability to accurately evaluate and communicate product quality.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to make decisions and provide clear recommendations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage daily responsibilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel locally to inspect product when needed.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
