The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of the plant processing operation including procurement, scheduling, processing, personnel, shipping and quality controls, execute business strategies by creating or improving processes and procedures, provide effective leadership for the operational team, among other duties as assigned. This is a full-time, permanent position.

The work of food plant manager involves various functions, with the goal to ensure top quality in food production.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Conduct studies to discover ways to improve the efficiency of production processes
  • Direct the overall activities of the manufacturing facilities and to ensure customer orders are received, scheduled, produced in an efficient and productive manner to meet the customers' requirements while maintaining established quality standards.
  • Ensure that appropriate standard operating procedures (SOP's) are developed, implemented and maintained for all aspects of the business
  • Oversee the hiring and training food production personnel
  • Ensure manufacturing and processing staff wear appropriate sanitary and protective gear to ensure health and safety
  • Monitor every aspect of production to ensure compliance with established procedures and standards
  • Responsible for maintaining proper staffing levels, employee performance evaluations, discipline, and employee commendation.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and replacement of production equipment to ensure smooth work operations
  • Allot work tasks to company staff according to their specialization and history
  • Set production objectives and implement action plans for achieving set targets
  • Conduct forecast to identify potential risks and contingencies in a proposed project
  • Prepare periodic reports to update upper management on food production activities
  • Create work shifts to ensure round-the-clock food production operations
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels
  • Carry out surveys to identify customer requirements and adjust to meet such needs
  • Ensure all company regulations and government legislations are adhered to
Ideal Candidate: 
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a production environment dealing with fresh-cut produce
  • A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • A hands-on Manager who can adapt to changes in the work environment; Manages competing demands; Changes approach or method to best fit the situation; Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
  • Advanced interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of cut operation equipment, tray sealers, scales, wash lines
  • Operational management knowledge
  • Self-motivated with proven leadership skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
