Job Description:
Produce Packaging, Inc. is an aggressive, growing, mid-sized, fresh produce repacker, processor, and distributor located in Cleveland, OH. We’re looking to add an experienced Food Safety Director to join our team in Bellevue, Ohio. This individual will completely take charge of our food safety programs, personnel training, and product quality. This is an exempt position under the FSLA. You will be in a leadership role where you will customarily and regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment.

Responsibilities & Duties:
- Insure that the company is always in compliance with its food safety plans, including HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and various SOPs. Your primary duties are to insure the food-safe integrity of our products and maintain our Superior Primus rating.
- Take charge of the company’s Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI) compliance, label-making, and etc.
- Investigate and follow-up on any customer complaints, and fix the process to prevent further issues.
- Interact with customers to insure and improve service, quality, and sales
- Keep up with industry developments, aid with new product development, shelf-life testing, etc.
- Help manage food safety for our production facility in Bellevue, OH (avg. 1 day/wk.)
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years experience in the food industry, preferably in fresh produce
- Minimum B.S. in Food Science or related field. Graduate degree preferred.
- Familiarity with Global Food Safety (GFS) requirements and successful audit experience
- Extremely high degree of attention-to-detail
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with other company managers as a team to accomplish all food safety goals
- Extensive familiarity with computers and basic office software, and experience with label-making, nutritional label requirements, etc.
- Flexible work schedule, which includes 24/7 access, in emergency
- Excellent work ethic.
