Job description

A well-established fresh produce company located in South Florida is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to oversee and support all quality assurance and technical activities throughout our South Florida operations. This role is responsible for maintaining high standards of food safety, product quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across operations.

Please note: Candidates must be located within a commutable distance to the South Florida area (Broward/Miami-Dade/Monroe), as this position requires a consistent on-site presence. Due to the nature of operations, flexibility to work additional hours outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends when needed, is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support quality assurance personnel while maintaining high standards of food safety, product quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform and oversee quality inspections on inbound and outbound product to ensure adherence to company and customer specifications.
  • Identify, document, and communicate quality concerns including defects, decay, temperature issues, handling concerns, and product condition throughout storage and distribution cycles.
  • Collaborate with operations, logistics, procurement, inspectors, and sales teams to communicate findings, resolve quality issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Implement, monitor, and strengthen quality control programs, SOPs, traceability procedures, and overall quality assurance systems.
  • Assist with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and reporting related to quality failures and customer concerns.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, product reports, specifications, and quality documentation.
  • Communicate directly with suppliers and growers to support product consistency and ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory standards.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Valid Passport required.
  • USDA grading standards training preferred.

Experience Required

  • 3–5+ years of operational experience, including at least 2+ years in a management role.
  • Prior experience in a QA/QC management position required.
  • Fresh produce industry experience required, with berry category experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, coach for performance, and effectively implement quality systems.
  • Periodic short-term domestic and international travel may be required.

Essential Skills & Abilities

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal) required.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using ERP and FSQA systems, or the ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Strong cross-functional communication and leadership abilities.
  • Results-driven mindset with the ability to balance quality, compliance, and operational priorities.

Schedule

This position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
