Director of Finance
Terra Exports is expanding into new territories in 2020 and as a result of that growth, we’re searching for a dynamic, driven CFO or Director of Finance to join our team. This individual should have experience in and be passionate about international trade and managing multiple entities. We are looking for individuals who have a reputation for being a star performer, maintain a professional conduct and have an open and adaptable mindset to the ever-changing environment in which we operate.

Description
The Director of Finance is responsible for the financial administration and risk management of the company; supervision of our accounts payable and accounts receivable departments and preparation of financial statements and analysis for presentation to senior management.
 
Role and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyzing and implementing SOPs that improve accounting and finance operations
  • Assisting the CEO with preparation of financial statements for reporting, record keeping, audits and for presentation to senior management
  • Supporting and assisting the CEO with special projects, workflow and improvements with financial reporting and analysis and overall financial administration
  • Partnering with and providing management with the financial tools and reports for well-informed and effective decision making
  • Ensuring the maintenance and accuracy of all files for financial analysis and reporting
  • Providing support and guidance of accounting entries and reconciliations
  • Managing customer credit limits and working with management to ensure timely payments and positive liquidity
  • Managing financial administration of group health insurance plans, retirement savings benefit plan, workers’ compensation insurance, incentive programs and property and casualty insurance
  • Managing our quick-pay supplier program
  • Collecting non-payables
  • Preparation of ad hoc ROI analysis
  • Developing KPIs and dashboards that keep an accurate pulse of the business
  • Assisting the CEO on new loans and related projects
  • Working with the company’s lenders to provide ongoing required information and disclosures
  • Handling USDA PACA claims disputes
  • Interacting cross-departmentally with HR, Operations and Sales on initiatives and projects
  • Acquiring and maintaining fluency, knowledge and expertise with the company’s Acumatica ERP system
  • Cash flow management, bank reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow analysis
  • Financial analysis of contracts on an as-needed basis
  • Managing and growing early-pay program
  • Credit management and maintaining current banking relationships and establishing new ones where necessary (foreign and domestic), including loans and lines of credit
  • Manage payroll and all related taxes
  • Work with independent CPA firm on annual taxes
  • Handling all license renewals
  • Perform all other responsibilities and duties, tasks and projects as assigned
  • Role reports to the CEO

Qualifications: 
  • Experience working in multiple entities on a global or multi-national basis
  • Experience directly managing multiple employees or teams of finance, accounting staff
  • 5-8+ years of experience in finance and/or accounting (combination is preferred)
  • Detail oriented with ability to report data clearly, concisely and on a timely basis
  • Strong knowledge of AP/AR process
  • Excellent customer service, dealing with and resolving disputes in a professional manner
  • Excellent written and oral communication, reporting and presentation skills
  • Respectful, constructive, energetic with a “get it done” style, with the ability to seamlessly fit into an established and growing team
  • Ability to identify improvements in daily operations; communicate to upper management
  • Cooperative & collaborative mindset
  • B.S. or B.A. in finance, accounting or related field
  • Advanced Excel user
