AgSocio is a new company operating in the Salinas Valley of California as a full-service farm labor provider. We provide qualified agricultural work crews to fulfill the labor needs of our customers. We specialize in providing our clients with access to the benefits of the H-2A guest worker program. Our purpose is to create value for farmers, farm workers, agricultural communities, and the broader food industry by building a more just, safe, professional, and competitive agricultural labor system. We are seeking a professional, disciplined, motivated, and experienced agricultural leader to manage daily operations of multiple work crews performing various farming tasks at client worksites. The Field Operations Manager is responsible for the scheduling and performance of assigned Supervisors, forepersons and crews and for interacting daily with clients to ensure the job is done right. This position reports to the General Manager. The position is based in the Salinas, California area and may require travel to Arizona, Colorado, Mexico and other locations.

Requirements: 

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Manage and direct the activities of multiple agricultural work crews engaged in various farming tasks on client ranches including but not limited to irrigating, cultivating, weeding / thinning, maintenance, and harvesting.
  • Supervise and instruct supervisor, foremen and crews on basic agronomy and crop activities to ensure work quality and efficiency meets or exceeds client expectations.
  • Lead daily communication and coordination with clients to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Manage scheduling and performance of assigned crews. Responsible for quality of work and efficiency with time and materials.
  • Coordinate closely with the Director of Human Resources, Safety, and Training on hiring, progressive discipline, performance evaluations, promotions, bonuses, terminations, incident / injury reports, and all other Human Resource related matters.
  • Source and secure basic materials to support assigned crews.
  • Interact in person and in writing with contractors, vendors, consultants, regulators, and clients.
  • Work closely with Management in finance control and cost savings initiatives.
  • Operate independently and professionally in remote settings with limited direct supervision.
  • Enforce company rules, policies, and procedures in accordance with state, federal, and local laws.
Qualifications: 
  • Five to seven (5-7) years agricultural work experience in a management role. Experience in Salinas Valley leafy greens required.
  • Technical knowledge and communication skills to manage large seasonal workforce on all aspects of crop production.
  • Proficiency in the setup, operation, and basic maintenance of agricultural equipment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as determined by crop conditions and client requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions from clients, regulators, or management.
  • Ability to use a computer, tablet, and smart phone for multiple purposes including time keeping, record keeping, reporting, and communications.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain US DOL Farm Labor Contractor Employee license (FLCe).
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both Spanish and English.
  • Must have valid US driver’s license.
