An independent citrus packing, cold storage, and shipping facility in the Fresno/Visalia area is searching for an operations manager to manage and grow its citrus packing business. The company is family owned and operated with roots going back over 100 years of farming, packing, and sales of fresh fruits. We are currently in a growth trajectory expanding our currently packing operations of mandarin and lemon varieties to all types of citrus. As a family run operation, successful candidates will have a wide range of responsibilities and opportunities.
We are seeking an Operations Manager who will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and help develop and implement annual and long-term goals and objectives of the company. The manager will work closely with our sales partners, grower operations manager, and oversee all aspects of receiving, de-greening, processing, packing, cold storage, shipping, and maintenance operations. The Operations Manager is a leadership position and is expected to train, motivate, and instill the company mission into the work performed by every employee. The position is ideal for someone with the capabilities and desire to grow a well-established packing company.
The Operations Manager will manage the operation with managers in the various operations sectors reporting to this position including maintenance, packing, shipping and other positions as they develop. The position will work closely with our Grower Relations, Quality Assurance, and Food Safety managers to manage harvest and ensure our high-quality standards for the fruit we deliver.
The successful candidate will work closely with ownership in developing and leading our growth strategy for the next 5 years.

Bachelor’s degree in the agricultural field or commensurate experience.

10+ years of experience in the fruit packing business with a minimum of 5+ years in citrus.

Energetic forward-thinking individual with ability to maintain effective working relationships within all levels of the organization.

Demonstrated experience in working with financial reports, developing and maintaining budgets.

Ability to be flexible and work long hours to achieve the goals of the company.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in a wide range of temperatures, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, lift 60 pounds without undue exertion and other physical activities.

Possession of a valid California Driver’s license, ability to drive, and acceptable driving record as determined by our insurance providers.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Bilingual (Spanish/English a plus).

Ability to solve complex problems quickly and efficiently.

Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and experience with packinghouse operational software such as FAMOUS.

Develop and administer budgets, projections, and conduct comprehensive analyses (including financial).

Ability to develop or modify systems to improve product quality and packing efficiency.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and budgets.
