Desert Valley Date is a premiere packer and shipper of California dates located in the Coachella Valley. The dates are grown locally, harvested and brought to our state-of-the-art packing house for processing. We distribute a number of different varieties, predominantly, Medjool and Deglet Noor. The Medjool date, which originated in Morocco, is the largest, sweetest and juiciest of the date varieties. The Deglet Noor, originated in Algeria, is considered to be a semi-dry date; it is less sweet and firmer in texture. We also offer an array of date-based products, such as diced dates and date paste, which can be used to create a host of culinary delights. Desert Valley Date offers both consumer industrial packaging for the ingredient market, private label and co-packing to accommodate diverse customer needs and ships worldwide.
We now have an immediate opportunity for a Production Supervisor to join our packhouse operation in Coachella, CA.
The Production Supervisor ensures that daily functions of personnel are carried out according to guidelines, resulting in an efficient packing process; train and directs packinghouse employees in the movement of merchandise through the department within specified productivity, cost, and quality standards.
Ensures our product is packed according to the high quality standards, and sale orders completed as directed. This position has direct supervision for packinghouse personnel, including hiring and terminations. Manage logistics, Quality Control, Production and Packaging.
The ideal candidate will have:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree or higher preferred.
- 1-3 years’ experience in the role of supervisor or manager in a food packing facility.
- Warehouse experience and knowledge of fruit or vegetable care.
- Ability to handle people under high-stress situations.
- High noise level.
- Must be bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Basic Computer skills.
- Must be able to work long hours.
