Job Description: 

We are currently looking for a Packing and Cold Storage Manager in Vineland, NJ.

The successful candidate will provide overall direction and guidance to our operational activities with the objective of maximizing efficiency and profitability. They must ensure high production output, high quality product, waste reduction while eliminating safety hazards and controlling overhead/labor costs. They will provide day-to-day leadership and management of processing functions while ensuring compliance with food safety and worker safety requirements. They will perform a variety of management, administrative as well as physical functions to ensure timely and accurate processing. Responsible for the supervision of personnel and operations in the execution of produce receiving and packing functions.

Responsibilities & Duties: 

  • Must be hands-on with employees in a labor-intensive environment, maintaining a high floor presence.
  • Ability to direct and schedule all activities of the packing room workers.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean packing environment that is Audit-Ready at all times.
  • Ensures workers are following repack procedures in accordance with customer & management specifications
  • Ensure the safety of all employees, at all times.
  • Conducts operational and food safety meetings with employees.
  • Responsible for compliance with GMP’s, USDA, DOL standards in accordance with operational and food safety policies.
  • Coordinates the inventory levels of items repacked for everyday sales.
  • Manages and maintains labeling compliance according to product safety policy.
  • Investigates various ways to improve packing techniques and packaging material selection.
  • Is responsible to maintain all packing tools and machines in a safe and clean manner.
  • Is responsible to keep an accurate inventory of all packaging supplies regularly.
  • Is responsible for employee discipline and has the authority to recommend hiring and firing actions.
  • Completes documentation of timecards, shipping & receiving documents and reports in timely, efficient manner. Documents employee attendance & disciplinary actions.
  • Performs all tasks and duties in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary. Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by departmental and organizational needs.
  • Represents the company in a manner that conveys professionalism, confidentiality, courtesy, fairness, personal integrity, and respect for others.
  • Qualifications: 
  • Education and/or Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • College degree or equivalent, preferred.
  • 5+ years fresh produce quality control and packing experience required. Fresh fruit experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proven ability to lead a team.
  • Strong basic math skills.
  • Experience using computerized production/order fulfillment systems. Famous experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to speak English and Spanish fluently.
  • Must be able to work in a cold environment.
  • Able to work with a flexible schedule that can include weekends and holidays.
