JOB FILLED - Supervisor, Food Safety and QA

Job Description: 

Summary: 

This important role on the Taylor Farms leadership team directly supervises a team of QA Crew Leads and indirectly supervises a team of QA Technicians.

This role is a key position interacting with all department team members on a day-to-day basis; excellent communication skills are key to driving a collaborative focus on compliance with Food Safety and Quality priorities.

This role is a key player in upholding the FSQA policies as well as driving new initiatives for continuous improvement. More senior staff in this role will support and eventually conduct audits as part of the career plan for growth and empowerment.

 

Primary Work Assignments:

  • Maintain expert knowledge of company policies and procedures. Operational verification of compliance to company policies and procedures as well as corrective action. This includes but not limited to on the floor GMP compliance verification, equipment calibration, PC review, incoming raw product quality evaluations and general operational procedure verification. 

  • Executing studies and creating reports outlining the Verification and Validation studies required to support the requirements of the SQF program.

  • First production run verification for internal as well as customer requirement compliance.

  • Specification change management communication with the operations and QA team. 

  • Data analysis and report trending for food safety and Quality systems reports to Management. 

  • Consumer complaint Corrective Action Preventative Action investigations and documentations. 

  • Root cause analysis and preventative measures.  Work with colleagues and leadership for problem resolution and long-term solutions including recommendation for capital expenditures.

  • Assess and train employees on key job functions, particularly for the QA Crew Lead team. Focus efforts on improving food safety and quality procedure understanding.

  • Identify opportunities for improvement in food safety, quality, operations, and compliance.  Develop programs to improve to drive continuous improvement.

  • Responsibility for coverage of the FSQA Manager responsibilities in their absence.

  • Other duties assigned.

 

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a related focus

  • Experience in QA and Food Safety. HACCP/Preventive Controls and SQF training a plus.

  • Self-motivated, proactive and possess effective analytical and communication skills.

  • Computer skills in all Microsoft applications required.

  • Work hours are flexible and at times requiring overlap with night shift or working weekends.

  • English Required, bilingual preferred (Spanish/English)
