Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team in Bakersfield, CA. This on-site position will oversee day-to-day accounting operations and play a key role in financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. Some weekend work may be required during harvest and at fiscal year-end.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger.
  • Implement and maintain accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliations and financial reports in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist with the annual budget process and provide variance analysis.
  • Supervise accounting staff.
  • Assist with insurance renewals (general liability, auto, workers' compensation).
  • Support management with cost and operational analysis related to growing operations.
  • Oversee payroll processing, including compliance with California labor laws.
  • Assist sales with invoicing and monitor accounts receivable aging.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with payroll compliance and HR practices.

Preferred:

  • Agricultural industry experience.
  • Experience with Famous Software ERP.
  • Understanding of California labor regulations, especially related to agricultural labor and piece-rate pay.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $100,000 – $130,000 DOE
  • Bonus: Eligible for discretionary annual bonus
  • Paid Time Off: 2 weeks after 1 year; 3 weeks after 6 years
  • Sick Leave: 40 hours annually
  • Phone: Company-provided device and service
  • 401(k): Eligibility after 1 year; 50% match up to 3%
  • Insurance: Medical (employee premium paid by company), term life, and disability. Optional dental coverage available at employee’s cost.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Occasional travel to Coachella location required
