Sales Manager

Job Description: 

The Sales Manager is responsible for increasing sales by marketing and selling to all The Produce Connection customers including actionable recommendations and fast solutions to member requests. The Sales Manager will also be accountable for developing and maintaining customer relationships.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Good knowledge of fresh produce, USDA standards & regulations a plus
  • Provides leadership to the day-to-day operations of the sales department, while maintaining focus on the Company’s strategic goals and Company culture.
  • Establishes and implements short and long term departmental goals.
  • Detail-oriented, excellent organizational skills – able to manage complex projects
  • Excellent communication skills – oral and written – able to make presentations to customers, senior management and others
  • Strong work ethic – able to work well under pressure with tight deadlines and be available after normal business hours to resolve problems
  • Creative problem-solver with ability to make decisions
  • Strong interpersonal relations skills – able to establish, build, and maintain business relationships; salesmanship; customer tracking
  • Excellent knowledge & skills with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook; Internet
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) – written & spoken – not required but would be a plus

Supervision Received:

Receives general instructions on what is to be done, limitations, quality and quantity expected, deadlines, and priority of assignments from Head Management.  Uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments independently without specific instruction but receives additional specific instructions from Head Management for new, difficult, or special projects/assignments.

Supervisory Duties:  

Lead and motivate sales team and develop cross department communication. Be able to educate others about marketing plan to ensure company continuity.

Education: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline and/or demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities through previous experience and/or education
Skills: 
  • Food industry knowledge and passion for food
  • Ability to work with the Blue Book
  • Fruit and vegetable knowledge highly preferred
  • Ability to execute business critical day to day operational tasks
  • Attention to detail, including analytically minded approach to problems
  • Ability to speak with customer contacts about complex issues
  • Ability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment
  • Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Qualifications: 
  • Minimum of 5 years performing management in sales responsibilities
  • Foodservice and retail sales experience preferred
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Experience with Inventory a plus
