We are currently looking for a Sales & Customer Service Manager to join our team in Bakersfield, CA.
As the Sales and Customer Management Manager at Bolthouse Farms you will lead a team of Account Executives and will maintain the overall responsibility and accountability for their teams and the assigned customers, third-party carriers, distribution centers, and various internal departments to achieve the highest level of customer service while enhancing mutual growth and profitability.
Order Management
- Customer orders filled accurately and timely. Ensures that products consistently meet customer needs while optimizing supplies across the customer base. Ensures that customer orders for the team are timely and accurately entered into the system, w/ appropriate transportation details. Works closely with operational supervisors to solve production / warehouse issues across the customer base.
- Proactive problem resolution in managing customer orders. Provides a high level of customer support, managing and processing orders, and supervises the customer support activities of others; handles all routine and most complex problems; coordinates and collaborates with sales leaders and SCM director on resolutions; keeps leadership informed and ensures issues of team resolved timely and effectively communicated.
- Pricing Accuracy. Responsible for ensuring accurate and complete customer contracts exist in internal systems and customer systems for customer base supervised.
- Ensures invoice amounts for the team accurately reflect contractual and promotion agreements; maintains awareness of customer pricing programs and ensures team resolves short paid invoices timely.
Account Analytics(Customer Relations and Grow Revenue)
- Builds customer loyalty and confidence; is proactive, partnering, and maintains goodwill. Builds customer loyalty and confidence – takes a proactive approach to meeting multiple customer needs and overseeing the effective management of orders across the team; establishes a partner relationship to support key customers; does what is feasible and sensible to maintain good will, keeping SCM director informed and gaining approval for matters of material amounts
- Selling skills – Responsible to increase revenue. Responsible to develop and maintain favorable relationships with customers, supported by self and supervised team members, to service customer needs, sustain existing product sales and increase total company revenue.
- Interacts with customers, primarily by phone or through e-mail, to increase sales on incoming orders utilizing opportunistic products; initiates calls to promote certain products
- Visits key accounts at customer site or trade shows, in conjunction with sales, to jointly manage accounts and grow total company business.
Account Analytics(Proactive Problem Solving)
- Solves problems through analysis of information and utilizing specialized knowledge. Supports team efforts to solve problems utilizing specialized knowledge and analytical skills to gather, analyze, and review information; determines appropriate resolution, including presenting results and recommendations to sales leaders and senior management.
Account Analytics(Contracts and Pricing)
- Assists in the preparation of sales forecasts, quotes and/or negotiations. Assists Sales leadership and Sr. Mgmt in the preparation of sales forecasts, quotes and/or contract negotiations with key accounts.
- Involved with SCM Director, Sales and Senior Management to influence contract negation process with large customers. Supports total company efforts for renewing contracts, providing input and analysis to optimize customer service and profitability.
- Responsible for working with SCM Director and Sales Director to establish prices for market based sales of regional, bulk, aged, or excess products; communicates pricing to team.
Account Analytics(Reporting & Analysis)
- Responsible to review reports and analysis on sales activities for team; proactively identify issues, trends, risks and opportunities to optimize operations and enhance company revenue, developing and presenting solutions and recommendations;
Product Management
- Provides an in-depth knowledge of most products offered; provides a level of expertise around at least one product segment in collaboration and coordination with colleagues in operations, production, marketing, and finance.
- Responsible for team adherence to processes for ensuring accurate customer product specifications; specifications are standardized and optimized for company profitability and customer needs; directly involved in collaborative issue resolutions with senior management, sales and customers.
- Collaborates with production and sales, performs analysis, and makes recommendations to team on opportunities for potential product sales of excess, dated, or expanded products to increase total company sales; oversees efforts of team to increase sales throughout management of customer orders
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite to include Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint

- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Business Administration, Logistics or closely related field and 3-5 years of experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in exporting goods overseas in the manufacturing or food service industry
- Knowledge of JD Edwards and other ERP systems
- Experience with Red Prairie or other inventory management systems, is a major plus
