To be successful in this role, the Sales Engineer must engage with our customers directly and in conjunction with our Sales team on various projects.  This includes providing layouts and designs for fruit handling and packing solutions that are fit for purpose, market relevant, profitable and meet our customer’s needs.

Responsibilities & Duties: 

Technical:

  • Efficiently gather information on-site using a combination of notes, dictation, camera and laptop in order to generate a complete project specification.
  • Participate in overall project timescaling using logical and reasonable time estimating skills.
  • Effectively manage work using successful time management, prioritization and escalation skills.
  • Produce custom production figure analysis and plant throughput for large turnkey projects.
  • Produce concept solution designs efficiently for early engagement in projects ranging from Small standalone product sales through to large scale turnkeys, by solving problems, selecting best fit products.
  • Produce designs using 2D/3D modeling as appropriate to scale and timing.
  • Conduct commercial negotiations with suppliers to achieve best value on purchasing equipment.
  • Produce budget and detailed pricing for quotations to align with the concept and detailed solution designs.
  • Prepare presentation content on turnkey projects to present to customers and present on technical aspects when required.
  • Specify and order 3rd party equipment to integrate with our own.
  • Produce reports on site visits, weekly job progress, overall solution effectiveness and other aspects of the role at request.
  • Ensure a smooth handover of won projects to the Project Management team. 
  • Carry out market investigations on new products (competitors and potential 3rd party equipment).
  • Work closely with Compac Engineering in the development of new products which meet customer requirements.
  • Engage internally with Project Support Engineering sharing workload and providing direction and feedback. 

Position:

  • Trade engineering qualification, preferably degree qualified or engineering industry experience in automation or equipment,
  • Multi-lingual desired.
  • 2D and 3D drafting/design tools especially AutoCAD/SolidWorks.
  • Experience into large scale assembly extensions of these drafting tools such as AutoCAD Factory Design Suites.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Use of other software packages such as Lightwave, Maya, Photoshop, and software programming platforms.
  • Proficient in ERP – LN, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics. 

Customer:

  • Work in conjunction with the Sales and Service divisions as a cohesive customer facing team fostering mutually beneficial customer interactions in the Regional Operation Centre, leading to solid and ongoing relationships. 
  • Work directly with customers on their projects, listening to, and understanding their requirements and helping to identify their project related needs.
  • Communicate with the customer using layouts, presentations and in person conversation the key value propositions and product features of Compac’s solutions and technology and how they uniquely meet the identified project requirements.
  • Assist with the gathering market intelligence sharing this with the business including monitoring competitors' strategies and products, industry trends, and individual customers information.
  • Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives. 

Continuous Improvement:

  • Assisting the Sales Engineering Manager with internal improvement projects, (e.g. Project Specification documents, Drawing systems, Team Planner, Pricing Sheet updates etc).
  • To advise sales, project and service managers on ways to improve efficiency and quality. 
  • To make recommendations on process improvements. 
  • To produce and share out training material with fellow team members.
