We are seeking an experienced Inspector to play a critical role in the Quality Assurance Department. This is a unique position in that instead of working in the field or at the shipping point but instead the position is in the Marketplace. This is a remote position and require the applicant to work on their own for the majority of the time.
JOB SUMMARY: Inspects fruit at the Market Lab established at the Anthony Marano Co. Wholesale Produce Market in Chicago. Grade product, both Driscoll’s and competitor, to Driscoll’s Quality Assurance standards and reports information to proper Driscoll staff members and customers.

Grades fruit accordingly to Driscoll Strawberry Associates grading standards.

Communicates with Driscoll’s Supervisor(s) on regular basis by phone, fax, e-mail, and text.

Perform a systematic and comprehensive evaluation of packaging tests as directed by Global Postharvest R&D.

Evaluate fruit quality of various packaging, supply chain and in-market research projects.

Assess in-market quality performance of “new breeding selections” shipped by Global Genetics and record data.

Ensure effective and timely communication with the customer and various departments responsible for organizing shipping tests.

Perform specific product variety tests in coordination with Driscoll’s Research Dept. and/or regional production departments.

Operates PC, photocopy machine, and fax.

Ensures Driscoll’s confidential and proprietary information and materials.

Represents Driscoll's in an ethical and business-like manner in all interactions with growers, co-workers, suppliers, customers, and the business community at large.

Maintains a safe and professional appearing work area.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Team player with ability to be adaptable and flexible in a fast paced continuously changing environment.
- Must be dependable and reliable and have strong interpersonal relation skills.
- Able to lift up to 10-25 pounds.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and supply own transportation with liability insurance coverage.
