Job Description: 

We are a family owned and operated business operating in the Bakersfield, CA area since the 1970s.  We specialize in farming, packing, marketing and the sales of conventional and organic row crops and almonds.  Our reputation has been built on honesty, hard work, consistency and the ability to listen to the specific needs of the industry.

The role of Account Manager is to develop long-term relationships with customers through sales and daily customer management.

We are currently seeking an Account Manager to join our team.

Requirements: 
  • Proven experience as an Account Manager or Sales Coordinator
  • At least 3 years of selling experience in a sales environment or work experience related to fresh produce sales and marketing
  • Ability to learn and understand produce market conditions
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork abilities
  • Creative and positive thinker
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion
  • Strong computer skills: must be proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with high ability to multitask
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Daily Management of existing customer portfolio to achieve long-term success
  • Responsible for sales, retention and growth of assigned customers to meet/exceed annual sales goals
  • Manage customer price quotes and weekly price sheet for current product assortment based on market quotes
  • Work with Director of Sales and Marketing to ensure overall sales strategy is active daily including identifying accounts which will contribute to maximizing long term profit objectives
  • Work closely with the Sales and Marketing Assistant and other future Account Managers to encourage a team atmosphere
  • Responsible for correctly entering, confirming and shipping orders for assigned customers as ordered
  • Handles customer claims and settlement negotiations
  • Supports the Accounting Department in resolving credit and collection issues pertaining to assigned customers and working with Accounts Receivables to ensure aging is current
  • Approve all Passings/Invoicing every morning by10am for prior day activity
  • Daily communication with production supervisors to develop production schedules and optimize lead time for production while meeting and exceeding customer needs
  • Responsible for allocating packed inventory to minimize days on hand and spoilage – and maximize turn rates
  • Prepare and present internal updates at weekly/bi-weekly sales meetings
  • Accomplishes department and company goals by completing related tasks and projects as needed
  • Contributes new ideas and suggests actions to improve sales performance and identify opportunities for growth
  • 40+ hours/week with weekends as the business requires with some travel involving customer visits, sales meetings and food shows
Education: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or relevant field. Background in Agriculture/Farming is a plus
