JOB FILLED - Plant Manager

Job Description: 
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Operations, the Plant Manager will manage the overall activities of the manufacturing facilities to ensure adherence to good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures while meeting customers’ requirements.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Manage plant operations for Production, Packaging, Maintenance, Safety, Sanitation, and Shipping & Receiving.
  • Manage the overall activities of the manufacturing facilities of the plant to ensure customer orders are received, scheduled, produced and shipped at the lowest possible cost to meet the customers' requirements while maintaining corporate established quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations in the areas of employee safety, food safety, environmental, and employee practices. (FDA, HACCP, GMP, USDA, EPA, OSHA).
  • Ensure that appropriate standard operating procedures (SOP's) are maintained for all aspects of the business, including facility cleanliness for food safety standards.
  • Implement plant safety programs and ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP's).
  • Maintain proper staffing levels, conduct employee performance evaluations, discipline, and employee commendation.
  • Control and minimize labor overtime and repair expenses.
  • Engage in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and controlling of overall plant activities.
  • Coordinate plant activities through planning with departmental managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards; provide Director of Operations with reports identifying areas for short and long term improvements.
  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Safety, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of food processing experience in a USDA / HACCP manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate leadership in the areas of food safety, quality assurance & plant regulatory.
  • HACCP Certification from a nationally or internationally recognized and accredited HACCP training firm.
  • Experience with USDA Rules & Regulations.
  • Must have strong organizational, leadership and communication skills.
