We are now accepting applications for a Quality Assurance and Inventory Maintenance Supervisor to join our team. 

The primary responsibility of the Quality Assurance and Inventory Maintenance Supervisor is ensuring the product being distributed from OGC facilities meets the quality standards of OGC and our customers. Additionally, the IM Supervisor is responsible for promoting and maintaining a healthy, safe and productive work environment. This role requires regular cross-departmental collaboration and a continuous improvement mindset to ensure the work of the overall QA department is meeting our business needs.

This position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular and consistent basis. Must be able to work in a cold and damp environment for extended periods of time. Work environment may include exposure to: dust, ice, dirt, noise, and vibration. In addition, repetitive motion, mainly of the shoulder, back, wrist and hands, may be required in this position. Standing, stooping, bending required. Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Perform all supervisory responsibilities for assigned team members, including but not limited to scheduling, payroll, assigning work, hiring, training, feedback and development.
  • Coach, develop and set goals for their team members in alignment with OGC’s Five Organizational Values.
  • Develop, implement, track and provide regular employee feedback on key metrics for the QA department.
  • Actively monitor and ensure excellent customer service through the IM Task List as well as the QA- All email group.
  • Oversee and maintain adequate staffing levels in the IM department to meet seasonal needs while minimizing over time.
  • Responsible for proper reporting of all accidents, and for ensuring all staff receive necessary safety training.
  • Oversee the quality assessment process for produce, both inbound and in the cooler.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of applicable SOPs for IM department processes and procedures. Includes developing SOP’s as needed.
  • Participates in and helps direct fruit ripening systems as needed. This could include monitoring and directing the banana ripening and handling procedures as well as other fruits.
  • Includes communicating and training of staff on ripening strategies, coordination of shipments and assistance with sales, marketing and customer relations issues.
  • Oversee or conduct training of OGC coworkers on quality control issues in order to minimize or correct reoccurring quality issues and to pursue credit for poor quality product.
  • Oversee and monitor Grower Services and Supplies programs. Work with sales, marketing and compliance to provide the team proper specs on labeling for OGC growers.
  • Ensure that the QA-PIM department is complying with Company policy, state and federal regulations regarding workplace safety, food safety, transportation safety and employment laws, and that all practices are administered in a fair and equitable manner.
  • Attend various organizational meetings as a representative of the IM department.
  • Assists operations with end of month inventory responsibilities in a timely fashion, which includes completing end of month reports for Finance and other departments.
  • Supervises the removal of problematic products from inventory and maintains accurate records on all shrink. Responsible for shrink reporting.
  • Maintains GMP and global food safety initiative (GFSI) standards; including complying with PPE such as hair/beard nets, gloves, steel-toed boots, etc. as well as personal hygiene standards.
  • Actively seeking out areas for improvement and facilitating Continuous Improvement (CI) process as requested to resolve problems and improve product and service quality.
  • Exemplifies OGC’s 5 Core attitudes and behaviors and looks to the best interest of the company protecting company assets.
  • Must be flexible and agile to support OGC business needs and mission and may be assigned projects and/or other duties outside of normal job functions to meet the needs and demands of the business.
Education: 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience in Quality Control, Inventory Maintenance, Warehousing, or Materials Management
  • Minimum 2 years of Supervisory experience required, or overall equivalent experience.
  • Must understand the product line, post-harvest handling, quality, grading, shrink, food safety, organic certification, sustainable practices, the seasonal dynamics of production and availability, vendors, retail, competitive landscape.
  • Must have experience using enterprise resource planning software as well as warehouse management systems and the ability to train others on the OGC’s computer software program; or must have the computer skills necessary to learn and use a variety of computer software programs.
  • Experience with maintaining GFSI compliance requirements.
Qualifications: 
  • Comfortable leading a team; ability to act as a team player and take on work wherever needed to help the team succeed.
  • Knowledge of USDA training and standards. Ability to facilitate USDA inspection processes and standards.
  • Able to safely operate warehouse equipment, such as forklift, rider jacks, etc.
  • Knowledge of safe warehouse operating practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work cohesively in a team environment; able to switch tasks quickly and efficiently as needed.
  • High attention to detail and ability to focus for extended periods of time.
  • Knowledge of sustainable business practices preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Be self-driven and able to work independently. Timely with meeting work commitments.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn the OGC product lines, post-harvest handling, seasonal dynamics, etc.
  • Ability to operate computers efficiently; knowledge of basic programs including Microsoft Office products.
  • English and Spanish bilingual a plus.
