WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are seeking a Director of Sales responsible for working in a collaborative manner with all departments within the company to maintain and enhance sales relationships, exceed volume and revenue targets and implement business strategy amongst assigned customers. The desired candidate will maintain long-term business relationships, seek out and build new business, be self-motivated and disciplined. This position focuses on retail, food service and industrial accounts across all of Grimmway Enterprises product portfolio (ie. Grimmway and Cal-Organic brands) in assigned territory. This position reports to the Vice President of Carrot Sales.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain and grow volume and profitability with current customer base while establishing and researching new business opportunities. 
  • Develop and execute sales plan and budgets that align with company strategies to achieve business targets.
  • Collaborate with internal sales team on accounts in assigned territory. 
  • Actively seek to sell our product portfolio to existing and new retail, food service and industrial accounts. 
  • Suggest promotional and marketing ideas that will enhance our fresh cut & organic vegetable market share.
  • Prepare, analyze and present category management data to customers with a focus on product, pricing, promotion and placement.
  • Assist in sales forecasting and planning.
  • Manage and attend relevant tradeshows, sales events and merchandising activities. 
  • Provide reporting for all events and customer meetings attended. 
  • Other duties assigned.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout most of the working day.
  • Ability to occasionally move about inside the office and adjacent office building.
  • Able to travel and fly as needed.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment.
  • Must be able to move items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Additional Info

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree required.  Must have at least 10+ years of direct or indirect sales experience (preferably in produce/perishables).
  • Merchandising experience a plus. 
  • Strong knowledge of retail, food service and industrial customers in the assigned area. 
  • Experience with category management and syndicated data. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook) and ability to learn proprietary software applications.  
  • Must be innovative, creative and self-motivated.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision. 
  • Experience negotiating contracts, presenting category reviews/analysis and developing/leading training seminars. 
  • Must be able to attend and facilitate Grimmway sponsored events.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of employees.  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required. 
  • It is preferred that the candidate live within the Major City Metroplex, Midwest or within commuting distance.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Extensive travel required.
  • Overnight and weekend travel required in the US and Canada – based on need.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean DMV driving record.
  • Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen, physical and functional capacity evaluation.
  • Must pass background check.

Compensation/Salary: 
$110,000 - $150,000 / YEAR
