Growers Express is seeking a Technical Services Supervisor who will supervise Quality and Safety Facility Operations compliance activities for our multi-area vegetable production operation. You will also provide support in the areas of special projects, administration, field services, and data management and reporting.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Supervise audit system for internal facility operations to maintain compliance to internal (Quality Management System) and external (Third Party Audits, customer audits) requirements.
- Supervise product inspection program to ensure internal and customer specifications are consistently met. Make recommendations of specification changes and updates.
- Manage environmental microbiological and ATP program.
- Ensure company compliance to policies and procedures defined in internal Quality Management System (QMS).
- Appropriately train and mentor QC staff. Conduct performance evaluations, manage training needs, etc.
- Compile, analyze, and communicate quality and food safety-related information to appropriate stakeholders.
- Automate processes where applicable using Information Technology (IT) support.
- Plan staffing and resource needs for all facility QC activities, including day-to-day scheduling and seasonal moves.
- Perform and document risk analysis at internal and supplier operations as a subject expert.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years industry experience in food safety and quality areas, extensive knowledge of Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Bilingual – Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English and Spanish.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet applications, notably Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and budget.
- Excellent project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced skills in MS Office applications, including Sharepoint, Project, Axapta.
- Five years of industry experience in food safety and quality areas.
- Knowledge of, and experience in advanced food safety and/or quality systems.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science-related field (Food Science, Crop Science, Microbiology, etc.).
Physical Demand:
- Required to sit for long periods of time.
- Physical effort required (ability to move 50 lbs. from one area to another).
- Exposure to extreme heat and cold environments.
Work Environment:
- Work performed in an office, field and production facility environment.
- Some overnight travel will be required.
